Anchor Point Therapy
|
Anchor Point Therapy was created by Paul Hanley to help people who are struggling to overcome difficulties with their mental and emotional health. Paul works from a Human Givens brief solution-focused approach combined with the latest neuroscience insights. Paul works with a wide range of proven therapeutic techniques to provide powerfully effective interventions so that clients experience positive change as quickly as possible, even from the first session. Anchor Point's treatment centres on the psychological truth that all forms of mental distress arise because people’s physical or emotional needs are not being met. It is when our emotional needs are not being met or are met in unhealthy ways or when our innate resources are damaged for any reason or are unintentionally misused that we experience mental and emotional distress, such as: anger, anxiety, depression addiction, panic attacks or phobias. |

The focus of treatment is to help an individual identify their unmet needs, and using their own resources, with appropriate interventions and maybe newly taught skills get their emotional needs met in healthy sustainable ways.
Why 'Anchor Point'Paul was inspired by the symbolism and practical effectiveness of what an anchor does. A ship's anchor helps keep the ship firmly fixed or "anchored" to stop it drifting dangerously in stormy seas. Likewise, an anchor for the mind, is something that keeps us firmly fixed, grounded, secured or "anchored" to what matters most and able to cope with the challenges that life brings. Thus, a strong anchor point is able to keep a person feeling secure and in control emotionally and mentally, no matter what may happen and no matter what comes their way. When our mind is anchored, our emotional needs are being met, we can have a sure and certain hope that we are able to meet and ride out the challenges and storms of life. |
